Known for being the biggest night in the world of fashion, all eyes are on the annual Met Gala as one of the largest fundraising events, which directly benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (1). Drawing in celebrities, models, influencers, designers, and so much more – the Met is known for its themes every year that coordinate with the exhibits at the museum to celebrate fashion throughout history. This year, the theme was “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”, which celebrated American fashion and namely the fashion of the Gilded Age. While the Met is most known for fashion, the Met Gala makeup looks didn’t disappoint, as attendees put their own modern twists on gilded glamor glam.

2. Normani
Normani’s eye-catching makeup look was definitely giving gilded glamour with her extra-blushy cheeks and penciled-on beauty marks. Like her outfit for the night, Normani took a modernized approach to gilded glamour with her makeup, as shown through her burgundy tinted eyebrows and shimmery green shade all over her lids. While Normani’s makeup artist, Priscilla Ono, hasn’t yet listed the exact products she used on Normani’s face, she did mention that she used House of Lashes for the look.
3. Janicza Bravo
Janicza Bravo is an American film director, producer, and writer who curated two rooms in the exhibit for the Met Gala. She completely stunned on the red carpet with her gorgeous blue eyeshadow look and bright red lip.
4. Caroline Wozniacki
Caroline brought out the blue of her gown on her eyes with her baby blue, shimmery shadow. To make the look even more stunning, her makeup artist, Clarissa Luna, added Swarovski crystals and pearls around the eyes.
5. Emma Chamberlain
Back at the Met Gala for another year, Emma went for a soft, romantic look with a pop of 24k gold leaf on her lids to pay homage to the gilded glamour theme. Emma’s makeup artist, Kelsey Deenihan Fisher, luckily broke down Emma’s gorgeous look on Instagram. The entire look used Bare Minerals.
6. Sophie Turner
Sophie’s makeup for the Met Gala this year really encapsulated the theme of Gilded Glamour. With a bold red lipstick, light eyebrows, and light burgundy eyeshadow that surrounded her eyes, her makeup artist nailed the look.
7. Quannah Chasinghorse
Quannah looked absolutely gorgeous in her baby blue eyeshadow that perfectly matched her gown for the night. Her makeup artist, Carolina Dali, used a full face of the Westman Atelier brand to complete the look.
8. Chloe Bailey
Chloe was dripping in gold for the Met Gala this year and her makeup was no exception. Her eyeshadow was the standout part of her makeup look as she wore a bright yellow-gold shadow that matched the hue of her sparkly gown.
9. Alicia Keys
Alicia’s makeup for the night perfectly matched her black gown that was embellished with crystals that outlined the skyline of her home – New York City. To match this, Alicia wore an eye-makeup look from artist Ayako Yoshimura with black winged liner and crystals on her lid. The look used products from Alicia’s beauty company, Keys Soulcare.
10. Venus Williams
Wearing an all-black look, Venus went full-glam with her hair and makeup for the night. She had a black smoky eye with a pop of shimmer in the inner corner, crystals all over the lid and sides of her eyes, and a bold lip.

For her Met Gala look, Ashley’s makeup artist Tonya Brewer used a full face of Dior beauty. The key part of Ashley’s look was a green eyeliner used above her crease, which added a pop of color to the face.
12. Camila Mendes
Camila was giving gilded glamour in gold with her glittery gold eyes and gold highlighter that extended down her cheeks. Her makeup artist, Carolina Gonzalez, used a full face of Armani Beauty.
13. Phoebe Bridgers
Phoebe’s makeup, done by Susie Sobol, was minimal but stunning and complimented both her gown and the theme. She wore a light champagne shimmery shadow all over her lips with a dark maroon lipstick.
14. Kaia Gerber
Kaia’s makeup was done by artist Naoko Sofia Patrizia Scintu, who covered the lids in a bronze, iridescent shade. Like a lot of other Met Gala makeup looks, the entire face used one brand: YSL Beauty.
15. Isabelle Boemeke
Isabelle’s makeup was done by artist Tami El Sombati. Her look was completed with eccentric graphic liner and face jewels.
16. Teyana Taylor
Teyana looked stunning with a bold and vibrant purple makeup look that perfectly captured the vibe of her blue and purple gown for the night. Her makeup artist, YeikaGlow, used a ton of products for the look that she listed on Instagram.
17. Jodie-Turner Smith
Jodie’s makeup artist, Sheika Daley, went for a simple yet stunning makeup look using Gucci Beauty. The look was completed with jewels under Jodie’s eyebrows, a dark smokey eye on the lid, and a pop of shimmer in the inner corner.

Chloe Kim’s first Met Gala was definitely one to remember with her gorgeous makeup look. Matching her white and red gown, Chloe sported a light red shadow all over her lids, small red jewels in her inner corner, and a bright red lip.
22. Dove Cameron
Dove Cameron followed suit with the trends of the night by covering her lid and temples with white jewels that matched her dress. She also sported a dramatic black eyeliner with a light, almost nude, pink lip.

For her Met Gala look, Maisie captured the gilded glamour theme with her bleached brows and dark red lip. She also wore a classic winged liner done by her makeup artist Yumi Lee.

In her look full of Chanel Beauty, Lucy wore one of the most dramatic jeweled Met Gala makeup looks of the night. She had a dark black liner on the upper and lower lash line with jewels covering the top of the lid. However, she had jewels on the bottom lash line as well that hung down and gave a fringe effect.

Using Dior Beauty, Iris brought out the blues of her Moschino gown by sporting a light blue shadow all over the eye, extending far into her inner corner.

Fredrik had one of the most stunning Met Gala makeup looks of the night, and of course, face jewels were involved. Do you smell a trend? For his makeup look, he donned a dramatic black smoky eye with light shimmer in the inner corners and crystal gems that surrounded the shape of his eye.

For her first Met Gala, Rianne covered her lid with sparkly gold shadow, which contrasted her all-red look, drew attention to the eyes, and paid homage to the theme.

For Alton’s look, the lid stayed bare while attention was drawn to the lower lash line. It seemed to be a reverse cat eye, as the lower liner winged out at the end of the lid and at the inner corner. Anok Yai looked pretty in pink with an iridescent pink highlight donned on the cheeks, brow bone, and cupid’s bow of her lips.
33. Donatella Versace
Donatella is known for setting trends in the fashion industry and her makeup is always keeping up. For her Met Gala look, she wore her eyebrows light with a blue shimmery color under her lower lash line and extending from the outer corner of her eyes.
34. Naomi Campbell
When it came to the face jewels trend of the night, no one took it as seriously as the queen Naomi Campbell. Following suit with the trend, Naomi wore jewels all around her face while sporting a simple glam look.
35. Maude Apatow
Maude’s makeup artist for the Met Gala was the same as Emma Chamberlain’s – Kelsey Deenihan Fisher. Maude’s look was a nod to gilded glamour with her dark red lip, rosy cheeks, and subtle eye.
