Five Instagram Worthy Fourth of July Makeup Looks I Mirra Skincare

The Fourth of July is spent barbecuing, spending time with loved ones, understanding the freedoms people do and do not have in America, and serving patriotic looks. Whether you're looking for a way to show off your patriotism or you just want an excuse to have fun with color, this year’s inspiration mixes clean, modern, minimal, and bold for fresh Fourth of July makeup looks.

Key Points

  • This year's Fourth of July makeup look inspiration mixes clean, modern, minimal, and bold
  • Bright eye colors are trending, which means it is the perfect time for bright red and blue eye makeup
  • Sunscreen, setting spray, and setting powder are essentials to help keep your look fresh and protect your skin all day

Glitter Eyeshadow

Margot Robbie’s glitter eyeshadow serves as inspiration for a fresh, minimal, modern Fourth of July makeup look. Achieving this glitter eyeshadow look is simple.

All you need is a glitter eyeshadow gel and brush (or fingers). Margot Robbie’s makeup artist used The Lemonhead Space Paste, which only retails for $22 on Revolve. The paste comes in multiple colors, including red if you want to brighten and bolden the eye look.

Blue Under Eye Smudge Matched With A Bold Red Lip

Bright undereye color is trending right now and I am obsessed. Shay Mitchell effortlessly slays in this look - and you will too!

To achieve this look you will need a blue eyeshadow, a smudge brush, and a red lip of your choosing. The E.l.f cosmetics smudge brush is a great smudge brush option. Violet Voss’s Forget Me Not eyeshadow palette at Sephora and Colour Pop’s Blue Moon eyeshadow palette offer a wide selection of shades of blue to choose from. Last but not least, pair the look with Kylie Cosmetics Bite Me Matte Lip Kit or Anastasia Beverly Hill’s American Doll Liquid Lipstick

No Makeup Makeup Look With a Bold Red Lipstick

A no makeup makeup look paired with a bold red lipstick is minimal, clean, modern, and bold. What more can you ask for?

Keep the look simple with skin tints (with SPF of course), blush, bronzer, and mascara. For this Fourth of July makeup look, we are spicing it up and adding bold lipstick instead of the usual lip stain.

Two of our favorite red lip inspirations come from, of course, Taylor Swift and Anna Sitar

Red & Blue Eyeliner

I have said it once and now I'm saying it again - bright undereye color is in. This red and blue top and bottom eyeliner combination is just stunning. The combination adds the perfect amount of color to any Fourth of July makeup look and outfit.

If you like liquid eyeliner, go for Sephora’s Intense Ink Liquid Waterproof Eyeliner in the shade Satin Cobalt Blue paired with Colour Pop’s BFF liquid liner in the shade try me. Or, if you prefer pencil eyeliner, try Kylie Cosmetic’s Matte Blue Gel Eyeliner Pencil paired with Make Up For Ever’s Artist Pencil in the shade Full Red.

In addition to the red and blue combination, you can add white stars under your brow to add a pop of character to your look.

Patriotic Multicolored Eyeshadow

YouTube makeup artist Angela Bright creates a bold, beautiful, and bright patriotic multicolored eyeshadow. The eyeshadow will look beautiful with all outfit choices, but it adds even more drama if you opt for an all-white look.

If you’re looking at this look and thinking “jeez, that looks way too difficult to recreate,” do not get discouraged. Angela walks you through the look step-by-step, detailing everything you need to know. A great palette that includes the super high pigment red and blues needed for this look is The Matriarch Palette by Prados Beauty, an Indigenous-owned brand

Fourth of July Makeup Tips

Sunscreen

This may seem like a no-brainer, but sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!  The last thing you want is your skin to be the color of your bold-red lipstick.

To accomplish your sunscreen duty, you can opt for applying sunscreen before applying your foundation and maintaining with Supergoop’s Mineral Powder Sunscreen or by using a foundation or tinted moisturizer with an SPF built in.

Setting Spray and powder

No one wants their hard work or cream eyeshadow melting away in the summer sun. Setting spray and powder are going to be your BEST friends to keep your bold makeup look in place.

To maximize your setting spray benefits, try out these tips.

  1. Shake the bottle before spraying
  2. Spray a dry beauty blender with your setting spray and immediately blend into your face
  3. Let your face dry completely

For some of the best setting powders on the market, we love Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder and NYX’s Professional Makeup HD Studio Finishing Powder

Final Thoughts

Choosing just one of these Fourth of July makeup looks is going to be nearly impossible. I just love them all. Whether you are looking for a minimal and fresh or bold and bright Fourth of July look, there is something for everyone.
