Brand Spotlight: Skin Pharm I Mirra Skincare

Skin Pharm is a female-founded, distinctive beauty hybrid that was created in Nashville, Tennessee by nurse practitioner Maegan Griffin in 2017. Maegan combined her knowledge from over nine years of expertise in aesthetic medicine, and her entrepreneurial inclination to create something that focused on “promoting skin health, empowering individuals by building confidence and fostering a community around a common interest in looking as good as you feel.”

Mother of three, company founder, CEO, and nurse practitioner, Maegan Griffin eventually came up with Skin Pharm: a company that ultimately aimed to provide medical-grade products packaged in attractive packaging coupled with a pleasant, laid-back approach to the cosmetic dermatology clinic. Skin Pharm is a cutting-edge cosmetic dermatology practice and provides in-clinic treatments and at-home skin care for all skin types.

Key Points

  • Skin Pharm is a brand built with a combination of take-home products and in-house treatments
  • Founder Maegan Griffin, is known for using cutting-edge skincare treatments
  • The treatments include everything from lip filler and microneedling to products such as serums and SPF

In-Clinic

Maegan is renowned for her pioneering work in aesthetic medicine, cosmetic dermatology, and state-of-the-art face rejuvenation treatments. Maegan's artistic work has solidified her reputation as a provider who helps patients create significant changes - both internal and external - in their own lives, while also finding a balanced approach to anti-aging and beauty. Here are a few procedures commonly done in-house:

1. Lip Filler

Injections of fillers produce results right away; there is no need to wait.

Skin Pharm’s injectables are created with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and used by advanced practice clinicians who value the "au naturel" appearance to softly fill wrinkles, creases, and areas with lost volume. This gives a plumper and more youthful appearance. They recommend repeating this treatment once or twice a year for the best results.

2. Microneedling

The body's natural healing process involves the production of more collagen and elastin. Microneedling simply triggers this process.

Microneedling, causes microscopic injuries by using a derma roller to create hundreds of small punctures in the skin. These "injuries" recover fast, and new, healthy skin grows over the damaged area. The initial result will look swollen, red, and irritated, but after one to two weeks, your skin should be brighter, tighter, and younger looking.

Depending on your unique skin, Skin Pharm will assign a needling depth between 0.1 to 2.5 mm. As far as frequency goes, they recommend treatment every 4-6 weeks for melasma and scarring; and 4-6 treatments for optimal outcomes. For general “age control,” they recommend once every 12 weeks.

3. Gold infusion

This treatment is definitely on the higher end, starting at $400. Depending on your specific skin conditions, they create a unique blend of vitamins and moisturizing antioxidants. Then, using microinfusion equipment made of 24K tiny needles, this mixture of chemicals is injected beneath your skin.

Similar to a lip infusion, this procedure gives you immediate benefits, so you can leave the office and go on with your day looking fabulous.

Take-Home

For all treatments, Skin Pharm has a guide on pre and post treatment guidelines that break down what you need to do to ensure that you get optimal results from your treatments. You are also able to take a skin quiz on their website to see which treatments and products are recommended by them for your specific skin. Some of their most popular take-home products include:

1. Youth Serum

This serum is a luxury moisturizer. At $115 for 1 oz, it is one of the priciest moisturizers I have come across. While the website gives a key ingredient list, there is no full ingredient list available. Of the ingredients listed, there are no red flags; in fact, all the ingredients are given “goodie” or “super star” rating on INCIdecoder. Some of these key ingredients are niacinamide, panthenol, and honey extract.

2. Clarifying Pads

These provide the same function as cleansing serums by applying active ingredients to your skin in a handy, disposable form to brighten skin, shrink pores, and prevent breakouts. It includes three essential acids: salicylic acid which unclogs clogged pores, lactic acid which exfoliates and moisturizes, and glycolic acid which removes dead skin cells.

3. 100% Mineral Tinted SPF

This SPF 44 sunscreen is built to protect from UVA, UVB, and infrared radiation and combats free radical damage. It includes zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, iron oxides, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E.

Skin Pharm is a high-end skincare company. Their products range from $40 to $150 per item (the full is $720), and their treatments range from $100 to $900+ (the $100 will get you maybe a Botox treatment as they charge $13 per injection and typical Botox treatments used 5-15 injections).

That said, their process is completely individualized and the ingredients they use are of high quality. If you are looking to really treat yourself or try out a new luxury product, Skin Pharm is the brand for you.
