20 Detox Water Benefits That Will Help You Live a *Rich* Life

Rich is one of my favorite four-letter words. Especially when I’m looking for a new skincare product, I’m also careful to check the label to see what kind of stellar ingredients it has. Is it rich in antioxidants? Is it rich in vitamins and minerals? If so, into my shopping cart it goes! But, have you heard of the detox water benefits I'm about to share?

I recently discovered that I don’t just have to turn to skincare products if I want to increase my intake of antioxidants or clarify my skin. In fact, I can clarify my skin from the inside out with delicious detox water! There are so many benefits of detox water out there, such as increased energy levels, improved complexion, and boosted immune function. If you’re eager to try out detox water for yourself, check out these 20 detox water benefits from these 20 drink recipes to help get you started.

1. Toxin Removal

  • Orange, Pomegranate, and Cinnamon Water

As you’ll find us repeating in this list, pomegranate is one of our fave sources of antioxidants. Plus, oranges are filled to the brim with essential vitamins and minerals to keep our skin healthy. On this note, cinnamon is a great way to add sweetness to this detox water without the excess additives.

2. Boosts Immune Function

  • Cucumber, Lime, and Kiwi Water

Besides limes being rich in antioxidants, the skin of a cucumber is packed with vitamins and minerals. Limes also act as a soothing, cleansing ingredient for our bodies. As for kiwi, the fruit has been shown to improve immunity and increase our potassium intake.

3. Anti-Inflammatory

  • Grapefruit and Mint Water

Thanks to the anti-inflammatory powers of mint, adding this little leaf to your drink can actually help us achieve *big* results. Matched with grapefruit, this detox water is great for your immune system, is a great source of vitamin C, and can increase your potassium and lycopene intake.

4. Source of Vitamin C

  • Orange, Lemon, and Mint Water

Citrus fruits really come in handy as a source of vitamin C when you’re in an emergen-c. Ha, get it? Anyways… citrus fruits are known for being rich in antioxidants, like D-limonene, which can flush toxins from our body. Mix them with mint, and you’ll definitely experience some great detox water benefits.

5. Reduces Free Radical Damage

  • Orange, Lemon, and Lime Water

6. Reduces Risk of Cardiovascular and Inflammatory Disease

  • Blackberry Mint Water

Since we already discussed how great mint is, let’s discuss the detox water benefits that blackberries can bring to the table. For one, blackberries are a top-notch source for detox-boosting antioxidants.

7. Promotes Hydration

  • Celery and Cucumber Water

Celery doesn’t just go with ranch. Turns out, each stalk of celery that you can add to your new detox water will contain potassium and vitamins A, C, K, and B. Additionally, cucumber is high in vitamins C and K while being super hydrating.

8. Increases Potassium Intake

  • Berry, Kiwi, and Orange Water

This recipe includes just five ingredients: raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, kiwis, and oranges. Did someone say yum? Not only is this drink delicious, but it has impressive detox water benefits like increased antioxidants, a boost of vitamin C, and a great serving of potassium (1).

9. Increases Intake of Calcium, Iron, and Fatty Acids

  • Dragon Fruit Water

Dragon fruits are not only delicious, but they’re also packed with vital antioxidants and fatty acids, too! As a bonus, adding dragon fruit to your drink has more detox water benefits such as: great source of calcium, iron, lycopene, and inflammation-fighting properties.

10. Boosts Energy Levels

  • Strawberry, Cucumber, and Pineapple Water

Pineapples are loaded with bromelain, which is an enzyme that can reduce inflammation throughout the body (1). Strawberries are full of antioxidants, and cucumber is high in vitamins C and K. Together, this detox water becomes a powerful inflammation-fighter.

11. Prevents Premature Aging

  • Pomegranate, Strawberry, and Mint Water

Like we said above, strawberries are full of powerful antioxidants, but they’re not the only star of this detox water. In fact, pomegranate seeds contain three kinds of antioxidant polyphenols, including tannins, anthocyanins, and ellagic acid, which all help fight free radical damage (1). As a result, this will help prevent premature aging.

12. Lowers Blood Sugar

  • Ginger, Mint, and Cucumber Water

By combining ginger, mint, and cucumbers into your water, you’ll find significant changes in your skin and gut health. Ginger is one of the healthiest spices in the world and serves as a top-tier detox ingredient that you don’t want to skip out on. With these ingredients mixed, you’ll see that the detox water benefits include: fighting inflammation, treating chronic indigestion, and lowering blood sugar (1). You can also add cinnamon for added flavor!

13. Good Source of Fiber

  • Apple and Lemon Water

The detox water benefits of apple and lemon water can be summed up in one word: antioxidants. These two together pack a powerful nutrient-rich punch and can help you clear up free radical damage. Plus, lemons help detoxify your liver and speed up the process of getting rid of waste in your body. How, you ask? Lemons have an antioxidant in their peels that stimulate liver enzymes to help flush out toxins. In other words, make sure you keep the peel in your detox water!

14. Source of Vitamins A and K

  • Strawberry and Basil Water

Now that you know how great strawberries are for your body, it’s time to talk about basil. Sure, putting basil in your water may seem strange, but basil is a fantastic source of anti-inflammatory properties.

15. Promotes Weight Loss and Reduces Bloating

  • Watermelon and Aloe Vera Juice Water

Believe it or not, aloe vera juice has been a mainstay in Ayurvedic medicine forever. As Ayurvedic skin-thusiasts, we had to check this detox water out. Overall, those who try out this drink often say it helps lessen bloating and can improve gut health.

16. Betters Digestive Health

  • Melon, Blackberry, and Rosemary Water

Not only are blackberries known for their high antioxidant content, but melons are a fantastic source of fiber to help us maintain a healthy digestive system. Besides blackberries, rosemary is also packed with antioxidants.

17. Lowers Blood Cholesterol

  • Apple, Mandarin, and Mint Water

Oranges are full of carotenoids, which function as potent antioxidants. Therefore, they can lessen any free radical damage that may become visible on your skin. If you’re a fan of texture in your water, you can also add chia seeds for a bigger superfood punch.

18. Decreases Blood Pressure

  • Cranberry and Lemon Water

As you read earlier, lemons are packed with antioxidants, but that’s not all. The antioxidants in cranberries are similar to lemons in the way that they can reduce free radicals in the body. Plus, cranberries contain a lot of vitamin C that our body can benefit from.

19. Balances the pH of the Body

  • Carrot and Persimmon Water

If you love carrot cake and carrot juice, why not try carrots in your water next? Carrots contain a ton of carotenoids which can reduce inflammation. Persimmons on the other hand are rich in vitamin A and C and antioxidants.

20. Improves Complexion

  • Strawberry, Lemon, and Basil Water

This detox water is amazing for clarifying and clearing up your skin, as it helps remove toxins from our bodies and promotes a healthier complexion (2). Not only is it super hydrating for our skin, but it also promotes a healthy scalp and hair.

Final Thoughts

While there are so many possibilities when it comes to detox water benefits, one of the most important to remember is how detox water can help us properly hydrate our bodies. I mean, when you make water that delicious, how could you resist getting in your full water intake for the day? Properly hydrating helps cleanse our bodies from the inside out, helps keep our skin supple, helps our muscles and joints work better, keeps our body cool, promotes cardiovascular health, and prevents dry mouth (3). Remembering to drink enough water is a key to a healthy lifestyle, so there’s no better time than now to start trying a new detox water recipe!
